There’s something especially meaningful about photographing a couple whose love story is rooted in service, adventure, and shared curiosity. Maddie and Chris’s Newport engagement session was the perfect reflection of who they are. Effortless, playful, and deeply connected.
Set against some of Newport, Rhode Island’s most iconic coastal locations, their session unfolded across 70 Steps, Ochre Court, and Second Beach, blending historic architecture with ocean air and natural movement.

Maddie and Chris first met while working the same shift at a children’s hospital. In the middle of caring for others, their story quietly began. One that would grow through shared experiences, trust, and a deep sense of partnership.
When it came time for Chris to propose, he planned a trip to Europe. After stepping off a train in Naples, the reality of traveling somewhere unfamiliar hit hard. So hard that Maddie nearly insisted they leave. In a moment that perfectly captures their dynamic, Chris began searching for alternative places to stay…only to discover that where they were already staying was listed as the number one place you shouldn’t stay if you’re not an experienced traveler.
It’s now one of their favorite stories. A reminder that even in uncertainty, they choose each other.
Newport is known for its timeless charm, coastal landscapes, and historic estates. Making it an ideal place to document engagement sessions that feel both editorial and deeply personal.
For Maddie and Chris, Newport offered the perfect balance of:
• Romantic architecture
• Dramatic coastal scenery
• Open space to move, laugh, and be themselves
Their session felt natural and unforced—focused less on posing and more on connection. This approach is something we talk about often when preparing couples for their engagement session.

We began Maddie and Chris’s Newport engagement session at 70 Steps, where sweeping ocean views and dramatic cliffside scenery immediately set the tone. From there, the sound of the waves and the open coastline allowed them to relax into the experience, creating imagery that felt natural, romantic, and unforced.
Next, we made our way to Ochre Court, one of Newport’s most iconic estates. The stone architecture and European-inspired details added a refined, editorial feel to the session. At the same time, Maddie and Chris’s playful connection kept the space feeling warm and personal rather than formal.

Finally, we ended the session at Second Beach, where everything felt slower and more playful. Here, Darko joined us, bringing an extra layer of joy and authenticity to the experience. By the end, the three of them moved easily along the shoreline, laughing and enjoying the moment together.

To begin with, we believe engagement sessions should feel like an experience, not a performance. Rather than focusing on stiff poses or perfection, we create space for couples to move naturally, connect easily, and enjoy the moment together. Because of this, each engagement session feels relaxed, intentional, and true to who our couples are.
If you’re planning a Newport engagement session and are drawn to coastal estates, meaningful locations, and imagery that feels both elevated and emotional, we’d love to tell your story.
